Outdoor installation: The Wallumattagal Heritage

Concept Statement:
This design project is an outdoor installation for the ferry wharf at Huntley's Point. I attempt to bring awareness to the cultural significance of this ferry wharf by illuminating the Aboriginal heritage of Huntley's Point. The installation is a community movement to educate Australians about Aboriginal history through the collaboration of the Aboriginal community, neighbouring schools, and the local council. The title board provides information on the Wallumattagal clan of the Indigenous Eora Nation. I include imagery of the water to accentuate how the Wallumattagal custodians were fisher-hunter-gatherers for thousands of years along the Balmain peninsula and Southbank of Parramatta River. The installation is an embodiment of community collaboration through the inclusion of artwork from the Indigenous Australian Community and a collage panel of local school projects.
